Clubs in Market Overton

It is the traditional sound of a country village - the sound of bells ringing on a Sunday morning.

If you are a practised bell ringer or are interested in learning then the local bell ringers are always looking for new recruits. There is a joint practice with the Cottesmore bell ringers on a Wednesday (8pm - 9pm) as well as a local practice on a Thursday from 8pm - 9pm. A teacher is available at practices to help novices.

Have you got some time on your hands and nothing seems to be interesting? You may be interested in joining the Bowls Club to meet new friends and take part in an interesting and diverting past time.

The Bowls Club is open from the end of April until the end of September for bowling but in the winter activities do not stop as there are whist drives and quizzes to keep activities high.

During the summer period the club is open to members every afternoon (the morning being kept free for the green keepers to maintain the lawns in pristine condition). Games are normally played at weekends and new members would be most welcome.

The Club boasts a club room for functions with a bar and kitchen facilities.

Any adult may book the club for a function. Reasonable rates. Licensed Bar. New Members of all ages are always welcome.

There is nothing like the sound of leather on willow and if you are a keen cricket fan Market Overton boasts a thriving cricket club. Situated behind the doctor's surgery on Thistleton Road the club house and pitch provide an excellent venue for games. The club house is also available for hire if you have a party or activity that you would rather not host at home!

The club boast a First and Second team Adult squad as well as Junior and Youth teams working with qualified coaches. It also has an Under 11 - 12 and under 15 league teams. Junior practice is once a week for all ages and the club is always looking for new players of all ages. They are also looking for those who want to work with the junior players.

An Organ concert it is not! It is an afternoon of music in various styles played on a modern electronic multi-keyboard that is capable of authentically reproducing any solo percussion, string or wind instrument. The programme of our professional artistes will include many styles of music which could include famous classics, waltzes, popular dance music and jazz. You cannot fail to be impressed by their remarkable talent to hear one person become anything from a full-sized symphonic orchestra to a solo instrumentalist.

If you enjoy music then this is for you. Two hours of enjoyable listening with free refreshments in the interval for just £5 - it's a bargain. Concerts are on the third Sunday of every month (except December) at the Village Hall and commence at 3.00 pm. See the poster in the Post Office.

An opportunity for your children to socialise in a safe environment rather than being sat at home watching TV or roaming the village.

All volunteers are CRB checked and the Youth Club is affiliated with "Young People" and RCC.

The Youth Club is held every Monday night in Market Overton Village Hall and runs from 7.30pm - 9pm. Entrance fee is £1.

An opportunity to try something new, enjoy something you already know how to do, share your enjoyment with others of like mind - or just meet up for a cup of tea and a chat!

This informal club meets on a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon (2.30pm - 4pm) dependent on Barbara's availability. There is the opportunity to undertake tapestry, cross-stitch, crewel work, patchwork, knitting or anything else that falls within this category and takes your fancy.
