Market Overton Parish Council
The Parish Council plays a very important role within village life. The Market Overton Parish Council meets one evening per month in the Parish Room in the church. There is an Annual General Meeting in the Village Hall and other meetings may be organised with speakers from the local community to discuss matters of local importance (for example, traffic safety in Bowling Green Lane).

The Parish Council's role within the village is to:
- Act as a consultation body for Rutland County Council
- Look into local issues (for example, affordable housing)
- Comment on planning applications
- Maintain or make sure that maintenance is carried out on trees, grass verges, bus shelters and so on.
- Enhance the local environment by organising the planting of trees and plants
- Support local organisations financially, for example, the village hall, the church, the youth club, play areas and so on.
- Approve bi-laws
